Field trips and visits:

  • Local government organisations and departments within the UK e.g. Oxford City Council, Cherwell District Council, Oxfordshire County Council;
  • Central government, for example the Houses of Parliament in London;
  • Educational institutions such as the Said Business School (University of Oxford);
  • Organizations connected with local government e.g. Tourism offices, the Law Courts, the Corporation of the City of London; the Chambers of Commerce;
  • “Match-making” visits to relevant companies in Oxford and London. This can take the form of hosted meals followed by discussion.

Cultural programme and excursions

Visit to the Colleges and Libraries of the University of Oxford;

Lunch in a College of the University;

Musical concerts at the Sheldonian Theatre and the Holywell Music Room

Guided tour of the Ashmolean museum, Bodleian library and the Pitt-Rivers Collection;

Day trips to Stratford-upon-Avon, the Cotswolds, Warwick Castle and other stately homes and gardens.

Accommodation and meals

Delegates usually stay in a good quality hotel in the centre of the city. We recommend some hosted meals and some to be taken independently.


A bi-lingual simultaneous translator can be provided.

Course duration

This depends on the client’s needs and requirements. Course in public administration and local government can be run anytime of the year by arrangement with OICT.
